VIDEO: A Hit on His Hands
Local Producer Premieres His International Hit Film
In the 10 years since Chagrin Falls native and resident Tyler Davidson turned 26, he has produced four movies. His most recent, Take Shelter, has played at three of the most prestigious film festivals in the world – Cannes, Sundance and Toronto – winning awards at Cannes, gaining a major distributor, Sony Pictures Classics, just before Sundance, and garnering rave reviews from many national publications.
Shot entirely in Northern Ohio, Take Shelter, written and directed by Oscar winner Jeff Nichols, features two of today’s hottest movie actors, Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. The movie has opened in several cities, with many more to come. It previews Thursday, October 27, at the Cleveland Cinematheque (in the Cleveland Institute of Art) – the film’s Ohio premiere. Then it opens at the Cedar Lee Theater the next night, Friday, October 28.
Davidson will be on hand to introduce the film at the Cinematheque, and also for Q-&-A’s at the Cedar Lee for the 7:00 p.m. Friday showing and the 4:20 p.m. Saturday showing, as well as introducing the film at the 7:00 p.m. Saturday showing.
Cool Cleveland’s David Budin caught up with the busy filmmaker recently to talk to him about Take Shelter.
