66 Trees for Your Holiday

66 Trees to Light Up Your Holidays

Where else can you stroll amongst 66 lighted and decorated trees this holiday season? Only at the Cleveland Play House, which is celebrating their Festival of Trees during the month of December in conjunction with it’s holiday presentation, “This Wonderful Life.”

It’s difficult to describe the experience of wandering the halls of Cleveland Play House and the complex that they will share with MOCA Cleveland for this one last season, viewing one beautiful tree after another. Fortunately, plans are in place to bring the Festival of Trees downtown to Playhouse Square when the Cleveland Play House moves there for the 2011-12 season.

Topped off by the grand 25-foot Rotunda Tree [pictured], which was once again decorated by Don Vanderbrook, who has done this type of thing for U.S. Presidents and Queen Elizabeth, the display also features a Holiday Luncheon on Thu 12/9, featuring raffle prizes, with proceeds benefiting the artistic & educational programs of CPH. It’s hard to imagine how the lovely Philip Johnson dome surrounding the 25-foot Rotunda Tree could be improved upon.

The Festival of Trees is on display free M-W 10AM-5PM, Thu-Sat 10AM – 9PM, and Sundays noon-5PM, except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Parking is free up until 1 hour before performances.
