Sun 7/2 @ 4PM
If you’ve ever seen Cleveland timbales player/band leader Sammy DeLeon, you know it’s hard to sit still while he’s playing. It doesn’t matter if he’s fronting a 15-piece ensemble as he did at Tri-C JazzFest last week, or one of his many smaller configurations, such as the quartet he leads with his stalwart keyboard player Jackie Warren, who may not be Latina but she has those rhythms in her soul.
That quartet, which also features bassist Kip Reed and sax player Chris Burge, will be taking the stage at the B-Side Lounge in Cleveland Heights’ Coventry Village on Sunday July 2 for a salsa dance party. Unsure what to do on the dance floor but your feet keep telling you that you gotta do something? Come down early at 4pm when DJ Fabrizio will be spinning salsa, timba, kizomba, afrobeats and bachata for a salsa dance class. The band starts playing at 7. Get tickets here.
