Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, the quasi-governmental organization tasked with setting the guidelines for distributing the arts tax money, has been under fire recently (well, actually, for the last 7-8 years) for its lack of transparency; confusing and conflicting information; and policies which put the actual creators last in line for funding. Its recent quarterly board meetings (which are open to the public and which more creators need to attend) have devolved into bickering between CAC board members, and board members and CAC staff.
There’s a lot of work to be done before the arts & culture tax, which expires in 2017, returns to the ballot to be renewed. So this Wednesday, CAC is holding a Zoom “information session and Q&A.”
They say, “Through this open to the public session, we aim to increase greater understanding about the process and broaden transparency. Learn about CAC’s grantmaking process, including: What is CAC’s annual grantmaking process?
Who decides and approves grants? How is tax revenue allocated and distributed?”
