Jessika Kucera is completing her senior year at the University of Akron’s Myers School of Arts where she’ll graduate with a BFA in photography after switching her major from graphic arts in 2021. She’s already gained experience as a freelance photographer, photog and exhibited her work in Myers School of Arts 2022 and 2023 student exhibitions. And she landed the Dr. Irving J. and Ruth B. Olson photography scholarship in the spring of 2022 and the Mervyn F. Danison Photography Foundation photography scholarship in the spring of 2023.
During her student years she photographed Santa and worked for J.C. Penney photo studios, but she’s quickly moving into a different league. Her senior portfolio exhibit, titled Life Through the Lens, will be on view April 20-28 at one of northeast Ohio’s most respected galleries specializing in photography, Foothill Galleries in Cleveland Heights.
It opens with a free public reception on Saturday April 20 where you can enjoy light refreshments and meet the artist. It will be on view through Sunday April 28, with viewing hours on Wednesday April 24 and Friday April 26 @ 4:30-7pm and Thursday April 25 @ 3-6:30pm, or by appointment at 330-421-3246.
