Wed 10/19 @ 8PM
Solo pianist George Winston is known for his calming, meditative music, inspired by nature and the change of seasons. The dozen albums he’s recorded also include his takes on music by the Doors and Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts music and two albums called “Gulf Coast Impressions,” inspired by the rich musical diversity of Louisiana and New Orleans — one helping the area to recover from Hurricane Katrina, the other to aid in the restoration of the crucial wetland and repair the damage from the catastrophic Deepwater Horizon oil rig blowout in the Gulf.
While he incorporates traces of many styles, including folk, jazz and R&B, he renders them in a gentle, reflective style that many people find healing and restorative.
Share an “Evening With George Winston” at the Kent Stage. Tickets are $25-$40. There will be baskets at the entrances for canned food donations to go to a local food bank.
