Thu 7/21 @ 6:30-8:30PM
Despite getting off to a slow start (its first concert with Anne E. De Chant was cancelled due to the curfew around the police shooting of Jayland Walker), the Akron Art Museum’s summer concert series Downtown @ Dusk is now in full swing.
Come out to its Bud and Susie Rogers Garden for what will hopefully be a pleasant evening of hopefully nice weather to hear one of the area’s truly iconic bands: the Numbers Band. Formed in Kent in its summer of unrest following the 1970 shootings on campus, they’ve been a steady presence in the area since, playing hard-to-define original music that blends rock, jazz & blues. Frontman/guitarist/vocalist Robert Kidney is the intense, riveting presence who’s led the band since its inception. His multi-instrumentalist brother Jack and sax player Terry Hynde have been with the band almost as long, throughout dozens of member changes.
The evening is free and no reservation is needed.
