Each month, the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls is the site of the monthly Bainbridge Swing Dance, an event that offers people of all ages the chance to learn some new dance steps, get some exercise, meeting new people, and hear some high-quality live music. Families, singles and couples are all welcome, as are both experienced dancers and newbies.
Doors open at 7:30pm and the evening kicks off at 8 with a dance class, so whether you’re a beginning or a decent dancer you’ll be ready when the band strikes up the music at 9. And experienced dancers are always eager to help the novices. Once you get out on the dance floor, you’ll change partners frequently so you’ll make meet lots of people and make some new friends.
And then there’s the music, infectious, feet-moving music performed live by some of the region’s most skilled musicians. This month it’s the Radio Rhythm IDOLS, featuring vocalists Carrie King and Paul Kovac (of the long-running hillbilly Idol), joined by Cory Grinder of Akron honky-tonk ensemble Cory Grinder and the Playboy Scouts. Together they’ll play a variety of American roots music including rockabilly, western swing, early rock & roll and American songbook standards.
