Sat 8/7 @ 10AM-6PM
More than 130 regional and national artists will be coming to downtown Lakewood for the 40th annual Lakewood Arts Fest Saturday August 7.
Detroit Avenue between Belle and Arthur will be closed to host artists and makers in a variety of media, including such popular local artists as graphic artist George Kocar and jewelry makers Mary Ann Posch and John Gulyas. There’ll also be out-of-towners who have become local favorites, such as Phillippe Laine, with his hand-painted silk fabrics, and ceramicist Sumiko Takada who incorporates Japanese motifs into his carved and inlaid hand-thrown stoneware.
Live performers are always part of the mix as well. This year’s performers include Luca Mundaca with Alexis Antes, Chris Allen, Meg and the Magnetosphere, and Senagalese drummer Assane M’baye. The Beck Center will be offering arts-based performances and hands-on activities for both kids and adults. The Eat on the Street food court, located in front of the Lakewood Public Library, will offer diverse eats from food trucks.
Admission is free.
