Cleveland Pop-Rockers Herzog Release New Track from Upcoming Album

Cleveland indie pop/rock band Herzog has a decade of music-making under its belt, since it released its first record, Search, back in 2010. That album, and its subsequent releases, 2012’s Cartoon Violence, and 2014’s Boys, came out on Cleveland-based Exit Stencil Records.

Herzog hasn’t been that active in the last five years though, so it’s good news that it’s been working on new music. Its “song of the month” project is leading to a vinyl album called Fiction Writer that it plans to release next year, compiling all the songs. The second installation is a song titled “Shadows,” of which the band says “This song is about the years Tony (Vorell, the band’s lyricist] worked at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, falling in love with every wallflower who came to a show (while, of course, never actually talking to any of them).”

Pedal steel guitar Stephen “Tebbs” Karney and drummer Alec “Danger” Schumann join the band on the track. Listen and pre-order the album here.
