There’s a national event called Resist, which describes itself “a multi-city theatrical event voicing opposition to fascism” or, alternatively (and more directly) “a nationwide anti-Trump theater event voicing opposition to fascism.”

Across the country, groups of thespians, both amateur and professional, are signing on for the one-day event, a staged reading of Bertold Brecht’s 1941 play, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, a satirical allegory on Hitler’s Rise to power.

“From coast to coast, it’ll be 24 hours of peaceful but pointed creative protest against abusive power! New York, Cleveland and New Orleans are already in! Join us!” says the organizers. “Let your community know that on Sept. 21, you’ll be acting up against Trump and the racist, anti-free-speech, pro-violence form of authority he stands for. While played for laughs, the contemporary parallels are chilling and impossible to miss.”

The reading will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Cleveland in Cleveland Heights. The event is free.
