Sat 9/2 @ 8PM
Each month, people looking or something active and social to do have the chance to drop by the Bainbridge Swing Dance, taking place at the Family Life Center (16349 Chillicothe Road) in Chagrin Falls.
There they can dance to live music by some of the region’s most exciting ensembles who play high-energy, feet-moving music in a variety of danceable and listenable genres while meeting new people and having a great time. The dances are all-ages events, welcoming to families, couples and singles, both experienced dancers and novices.
Doors open at 7:30; at 8pm there’s a dance class, so if you’ve never done this before, you can learn the steps — friendly regulars are eager to help you out. Music starts at 9 and goes to 11pm. As for coming alone, don’t worry: it’s part of the program to change partners constantly so you’ll get to dance with everyone and make some new friends.
This month, dancers will have the chance to swing around the floor to music provided by Northeast Ohio Americana stalwart J Scott Franklin. He’s performed with such ensembles as the Ohio Collegiate Jazz Ensemble and the Jerry Bruno Orchestra as well as his own J Scott Franklin Jazz Ensemble, with its repertoire of jazz standards, country classics by artists such as Hank Williams and Johnny Cash and original music derived from those influences.
The dances take place on the first Saturday of each month at the Family Life Center (16349 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls. Admission is $15, $10 per child or $40 per family. No registration is required. Get more information here.
