In late February, SPACES opened two shows by artists who had been working there on residencies since January.
One of those was created by New York-based Alexander Si. Fulfillment Center, Pt. 1 looks at the cost of Amazon’s huge network through the lens of printmaking, sculpture, installation, performance and “participatory social practice work.” He sees this project as the first of a series of investigation of the impact of Amazon’s business model on labor, class and racial disparities, and how it affects the larger society.
Si will be doing a talk at SPACES to share some of the thinking behind his project and discuss “what and who’s really at stake in the e-commerce giant’s fulfillment and delivering process.”
The talk is free and open to all. The show is on view through Friday April 28.
