Local singer/songwriter/guitarist Tracy Marie started Breastfest around 2000 to raise money for local breast cancer support charity. She enlisted fellow musicians to put on multi-act shows to solicit donations.
Now that the event is coming back from the pandemic, Breastfest 2022 is being billed as the biggest one yet. Taking place at Brothers Lounge, it will feature 16 acts, both bands and solo artists with donations solicited to benefit the Northeast Ohio-based JD Breast Cancer Foundation, which offers direct assistance to people fighting breast cancer.
You’ll hear bands such as Liz Bullock, and Becky Boyd with musician Chris Hanna, pianist/vocalist Anita Keys with bassist Ryann Anderson and the trio of Kelly Wright, Meredith Pangrace (The Bellows) and Matt Sobol (The Waynes), as well as bands like the Rustic Fools, Primal Rhythm and Headlands Beach Experience. And noted local musician/comedian Charlie Wiener will be doing the emceeing.
There’s no admission charge but there is a suggested donation of $20 — certainly more if you feel so moved.
