If you are a voter in Cleveland, there’s no way to have TOO much information about the two mayoral candidates, Kevin Kelley and Justin Bibb. In fact, sadly, too many voters choose candidates based on impressions or a fleeting comment: this one has soaring aspirations, that one seems like “one of us.” Resolve to know more!
Kelley and Bibb emerged the winners from a seven-candidate primary on September 14 and now it’s time for voters to vet them before voting on Tuesday November 2 (or earlier: early voting starts this week). So Ideastream Public Media, which hosts public broadcasting outlets, and the City Club of Cleveland are presenting the 90-minute “Cleveland Mayoral Debate: Voters First” with Bibb and Kelley on Monday October 11. It will air on WVIZ, WCPN, cityclub.org and ideastream.org/debate. The debate will also be available to any other local media outlet interested in airing it.
The event will be hosted by Ideastream senior host/producer Rick Jackson. He’ll be joined by Ideastream reporter/producer Nick Castele; Lawrence Daniel Caswell, field coordinator at Cleveland Documenters and Crain’s Cleveland Business’s executive editor Elizabeth McIntyre. Questions from community members on issues such aseconomic development, infrastructure and the role of the arts will be offered on pre-recorded video. Submit a question in English or Spanish at ideastream.org/election2021.
