The CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra continues its season dedicated to “justice, equality, hope,” with a program called From the New World, which features music and composers largely unfamiliar to the average concertgoer.
They include a new, commissioned piece by California native violinist/composer Michi Wiancko, who earned her bachelors degree in music performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Other pieces include Trio Sonata Op. 1, No. 3 by 17th-century Spanish violinist/composer Francisco J. de Castro; Andrea Falconieri’s Passacalle a 3; and Luigi Boccherini’s Guitar Quintet No. 4 in D (“Fandango”).
Musicians include baroque violinists Guillermo Salas-Suarez and Alan Choo, baroque violist Yael Senamaud, baroque violoncello player Sophie Benn, harpsichordists QinTin Tang, and baroque guitarist Jeremy Bass. They’ll perform at The Temple-Tifereth Israel on Thursday December 16 and at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus in Slavic Village on Friday December 17.
As with all CityMusic concerts, they are free.
