Oh, how we miss Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who passed away in late 2020, giving Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump and the Federalist Society the opportunity to ram far-right judge Amy Coney Barrett onto the Supreme Court weeks before the election that ejected Trump from office. We need more Supreme Court justices who don’t fly insurrection flags outside their homes.
Cleveland’s Ensemble Theatre brings her story to life in a world premiere play, titled The Prospect of Equality, a prospect that has radically dimmed for women and other marginalized groups since her death. It explores how she became who she was, showing the older RBG providing guidance to her younger self. The play was written by Cleveland actress/director/writer Rachel Zake and directed by Ensemble’s Executive Artistic Director Celeste Cosentino. An ensemble of top-flight local actors makes up the cast, including noted local actress Laura Perrotta, who has appeared in countless productions at area theaters such as the Cleveland Play House and Great Lakes Theater, as well as ensemble, in the role of the adult RBG.
The show takes place at Notre Dame College’s Performing Arts Center. It runs Fridays and Saturday @ 7:30pm and Sundays @ 2pm through June 9. Get tickets here.
