Akron Soul Train Winter Show Features Work by 35 Alumni Residents

Akron Soul Train’s mission is to provide short residency grants to artists in a variety of fields including theater, dance, music, film, literature and visual arts to develop a specific project it then showcases in its gallery or at a collaborating institution. It’s made grants to 61 such artists.

This week it will be showcasing 35 past residents at its Winter SOULstice Alumni Show, opening with a reception on Friday December 16 where it will announce its 2023 residents at 7pm. The alumni include both illustrious established artists and promising young artists very early in their careers; for this exhibit, they’ll all be showing new work.

They incude Eva Kwong, Elizabeth Dallas, Shani Richards, Zelda Zinn,Diane Britt, Avery Mags Duff, Danny Volk, Jennifer Omaitz, Michelle Droll, Stephen Tomasko, Christina Lindhout, Josy Jones, Ryan Craycraft, Timothy Gaewsky, April Bleakney, Rebekah Wilhelm, Seth Nagelberg, Miriam Bennett, Max Markwald, Candy Coated, Ron Shelton, Arron Foster, Jonah Jacobs, Adana Tillman, Atafeh Farajolahzadeh, Gabe Gott, Michael Loderstedt, Lori Kella, Palli Davene Davis, Steven Mastroianni and Daniel Trzcinski.

The show will be on view through Saturday January 14.
