Our friend Elisa Vietri at Moonstruck Vintage in Little Italy shared with us a Black Friday event that sounds a lot more fun than breaking down the doors at WalMart to get a cheaper TV.
It’s called Plaid Friday, an event started by someone in California in 2009, a year before American Express started, Small Business Saturday, to encourage people to “shop small.” “The name was chosen to reflect the concept of weaving individual threads of small businesses together to create a strong fabric,” they explain.
Stop down at Moonstruck, where you’ll find a beautiful curated selection of vintage items and some unusual new items as well. Wear something plaid and you’ll get a 10% discount on your purchase and a small gift. There’ll be sweets as well!
In addition, Liane of Trouve Des Objet, “the reclamation,” will have her jewelry created from reclaimed pocket watch pieces and small pieces of … things. “Liane will also be joining the following day for Small Business Saturday,” says Elisa.
And of course if you’re going down to Little Italy, you’ll want to plan time for a good traditional Italian meal or maybe something more contemporary. The choice is yours in this restaurant-packed neighborhood where everything’s within waling distance.
