A Few Dozen Local Musicians Gather at Grog Shop for Blues and Soul Slam

Thu 2/29 @ 8PM

It’ll be quite a gathering of area musicians at the Grog Shop when Apostle Jones frontman Mikey Silas hosts the “Blues and Soul Slam” billed as replicating a “1960s New Orleans lounge speakeasy.” More than 20 prominent area musicians from a variety of bands with offer blues and soul tunes from the 1940s through today.

Vocalists include Esther Fitz, Honey Monai, Madison Pruitt, Malana Broome, Bria Miller, Adriana Miller, Frida, Lauren Lanzaretta, Jared Horgan and TobyBlues, as well as Austin ‘Walkin’ Kane, Brent Kirby, Ray Flanagan, Jinari Kemet, Max Stakolich, Henry LoConti, Jason Patrick Meyers “and more,” they promise. More than a dozen musicians will be backing them up, presumably in shifts since the Grog Shop stage isn’t all that large!

And it doesn’t stop with the music. “We’re transforming the Grog Shop into a bohemian oasis, complete with vintage decor, dim lighting, and lush plants,” they promise. “You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time to an intimate blues joint on the Bayou. It’s an immersive experience that will transport you to a different era.”
