Former patrons of Nighttown will remember Bria Skonberg, the comely Canadian-born and –raised, New York-based jazz trumpet player/vocalist/songwriter who often performed there.
She’s back in northeast Ohio to help the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra kick off its 39th season with a program they’ve dubbed “Bria con Brio!” “Equally enchanting whether singing or playing, Bria’s creative genius enables her to deftly straddle styles from the likes of Louis Armstrong to Janis Joplin,” they promise. The musicians of CJO — comprising some of the region’s outstanding musicians — should give her plenty o support.
They’ll perform two shows together: Friday night at BLU Jazz+ in Akron, and Saturday at the Maltz Performing Arts Center in University Circle. Get information and tickets here.
