NE Ohio Native Pop Singer Connor Bogart O’Brien Brings His Christmas Show Back to @ Akron Civic

Sun 12/22 @ 4:30PM

Northeast Ohio native Connor Bogart O’Brien has had a diverse career, to say the least. He learned classical violin as a child and studied opera at the Eastman School of Music. He’s been a pop singer with an almost teen-idol style presentation, sang with noted a cappella group The University of Rochester Yellowjackets, performed on cruises (he recently returned from one in China and Japan), and opened for artists such as Mariah Carey, Huey Lewis, Rick Springfield, Hall & Oates and Richard Marx. He’s performed with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra and the Akron Symphony, among many others, and acted in productions of shows such as Forever Plaid, Altar Boyz, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Miss Saigon.

Last year, he put together a Christmas show at the Akron Civic Theatre in the style of those old-fashioned holiday television specials done by artists such as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. It was a hit and he’s doing it again.

“Christmas Under the Stars” (referring to the theater’s stunning star-lit ceiling) will feature a nine-piece big band, guest vocalists including some of the students from the Akron All-City Musical performing with him on gospel tunes, heart-warming stories, and beloved Christmas tunes everyone knows, fronted by O’Connor, who will undoubtedly be looking his most dapper and festive for the occasion.

Reserved seats are $25 and $35; general admission is $20.
