If you’re going to have “A Lesson in Cadence & Rhythm,” as the Grog Shop show is called, there are few better teachers than Akron instrumental ensemble the Admirables. The group’s energetic horn-embellished funk-soul sound is both hard-driving and infectious, heavy on rhythm almost impossible to sit still to. And although the band is primarily instrumental, you’ll still find founder/leader/ frontman/alto sax player Nathan-Paul Davis exhorting the audience to a higher energy plane.

Also bringing the cadence and rhythm are rising Cleveland hip hop performers Tae Miles and Jul Big Green, and vocalist Jessica Yafanaro.

“We’ll be hitting you with an eclectic mix of hip hop, neo soul, and just straight vibe as we play originals from all our guests, in addition to some familiar Admirables classics turned on their heads,” says the band.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
