Enjoy Boating, Hiking, Yoga & Music Along Lower Shaker Lake

Sat 8/26 @10AM-5PM

Once upon a time, the Lower Shaker Lake was a recreational mecca for public boating and once a year, the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership offers people the chance to revisit that era with its 10th Annual Take to the Lake event, a great way to put an exclamation mark on the end of summer.

You can get take to the lake for some paddling, takes guided hikes along lakeside trails, or enjoy a yoga class or live music. Beginners can take a kayak lesson open to everyone over the age of 8; kids must be accompanied by an adult. There will also be kayak rental from 10am-4pm, but you’re also welcome to bring your own kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard. You must have a lifejacket to take to the water.

There’ll also be activities taking place over at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, including a Shaker Lakes History Hike at 10am and 3pm; a yoga class at 11am and a live performance by old-timey/bluegrass ensemble Spyder Stompers and Sugar Pie.

Some events have a fee and advance registration online is recommended for everything. Go to doanbrookpartnership.org/boat/.
