Bill Introduced to Create Dedicated License Plate for Weirdo Cat Lovers of Cleveland

Northeast Ohio state representative Phil Robinson from Solon must be courting the votes of all the Ohio cat lovers. For the second time (the first was in 2021) he’s introduced legislation “to amend section 4501.21 and to enact section 4503.943 of the Revised Code to create the “Weirdo Cat Lovers of Cleveland” license plate.”

It’s part of HB 586, which creates license plates for a lengthy list of organizations and causes including sickle cell research the Future Farmers of America, autism awareness, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Massillon Tiger Booster Football club.

He previously introduced this legislation in 2021. The bill is co-sponsored by Toledo area Democrat Michele Grin, along with Parma Democrat Sean Brennan, Cleveland Democrat Darnell T. Brewer and Republican James M. Hoops of Napoleon in northwest Ohio. If passed, the money raised by the specialty plates would go to programs, such as its emergency cat health fund, run by the nonprofit volunteer-staffed Weirdo Cat Lovers which started as the Weirdo Cat Ladies of Cleveland Facebook group — until male cat lovers wanted in.
