All summer long, Monday through Friday through the end of September, you can stop by Public Square during the lunch hour and hear some interesting local singer/songwriters and other musicians who do their own thing — not tribute acts or, for the most part, cover artists!
One of these, performing this week is Marc Lee Shannon, best known locally for spending about 25 years performing with Michael Stanley’s Resonators, as well as Stanley’s just-for-fun side project the Midlife Chryslers.
Stanley produced Shannon’s first solo album, 2007’s Any Ordinary Man, released on his Line Level label. It took a while for him to follow it up, but he did so in 2018 with Walk This Road, produced by Ryan Humbert of Akron’s alt-country band, The Shootouts. He didn’t wait so long to release his third, Lucky 7, which came out in 2022, also produced by Humbert. It featured the single “Steady On,” addressing Michael’s death and its impact on him, with fellow Resonator Jennifer Lee on harmony vocals.
He’s got a nice repertoire to songs to fuel a set; stop down and check him out downtown.
