NE Ohio Documentary Photography Project Looking for Submissions for New Collection

Cleveland State University’s Michael Schwartz Library, which houses the Cleveland Memory Project, and the Cleveland Photographic Workshop have announced the Documentary Photography Project, to create an archive of documentary photographs by northeast Ohio photographers.

The Cleveland Photographic Workshop (CPW) is putting out a call for submissions to photographers in the area to submit will up to three images for potential inclusions. They may be interconnected or separate images. Those included will be chosen by CPW.

They describe a documentary photograph as “a picture of a person, place, thing or event; taken in situ and not manipulated by the photographer (other than minor digital corrections). A documentary photograph chronicles individuals, objects or events from daily life which may have personal or historical significance to the photographer or to northeast Ohio.”

The final collection will be available for viewing at the CSU library, both digitally and in print form with prints to be made by the photographer or under their supervision. Go here for more information about submission requirements. Direct any questions to project coordinator Jamie Richey at csucpfproject@gmail.com.

It’s free to submit; chosen photos will be delivered to the downtown location of Dodd Camera.  Deadline is December 31, 2021 so you’ve got a while to go through your photos and choose your best images.
