The Cleveland Composers Guild, a 50-year-old organization that promotes new music in Northeast Ohio, is celebrating the Year of the Voice in a concert collaboration with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony.
The evening will feature a series of opera scenes written by Northeast Ohio composers, including from Inna Onofrei’s Ara the Beautiful; Lorenzo Salvagni’s The Pilot; Jeffrey Quick’s The White Hen; Margi Griebling-Haigh’s The Higglers and Karen Griebling’s Richard III: A Crown of Roses, a Crown of Thorns.
The program features 13 singers including sopranos Anna O’Connell, Rachel Rose Lisl Wangermann and Abigail Williams; mezzo-sopranos Katniss Bi, Sandra Rose, Stephanie Smittle and Sue Wallin; tenor Mark Laseter; treble Alex Cosma; and baritones Brian Keith Johnson, Loren Reash-Henz and Jordy Vargas. Music director is Steven Smith; stage director is Marla Berg. It takes place at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music’s Gamble Auditorium.
Admission is free but donations at the door are welcome!
