And many of those items will be part of the KSU Museum’s new show, Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman: Dazzling Day and Night, celebrating the museum’s founders. It opens this week and will be on view for more than a year.
Rodgers began his career as a stage costume designer, while Silverman began his in law. Working with clients in the fashion business inspired him to begin a partnership with Rodgers in 1946. In 1979 they staged a very successful fashion show at the KSU Student Center Ballroom, which eventually led to the creation of the KSU Museum and School of Fashion, as well as a collection fueled by a gift of 4,000 garments, textiles and accessories from their fashion business. includes many day dresses and cocktail attire from their fashion business, Jerry Silverman, Inc.
The new show will feature more than 30 ensembles from the late 50s through the 70s, both daywear and evening wear, many worn by important clients, others of which appeared in photos and advertising.
