Cleveland Metroparks Virtual classroom isn’t just for kids, although it’s certainly one way to keep those restless young’s occupied while they’re stuck in the house.
Anyone is invited to check in with its rangers, naturalists, scientists and zookeepers starting at 11am Monday-Friday to hear from these experts about animals, nature and the outdoors, and to interact with them and ask questions online.
Start at 11am at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Facebook page to join with zookeepers as they visit with some of the zoo’s animal residents. They’ll be sharing inside info on caring for their charges and demonstrate how they interact with them.
At 1pm the action moves to the Cleveland Metroparks Facebook page here naturalists will take you out into the fields and woods to look for evidence of the burgeoning spring season, watch green shoots burst out of the forest floor, trees start to bud and leaf, and animals, birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians start to appear from winter hibernation.
Stay tuned to the Cleveland Metroparks Facebook page at 3:30pm as their outdoor recreation team offers a look at adventuring skills such as backpacking, water sports, cycling and hiking that you’ll be able to enjoy this summer if you stay inside and stay healthy now.
After each session, you can see the video at clevelandmetroparks.com/virtualclassroom, with additional content on the Cleveland Metroparks YouTube page.
“Parks and nature have become an outlet for guests to find solace during this challenging time,” said Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman. “Now more than ever, connecting with nature is a way to stay busy, active and find peace.”
