Cleveland Print Room Partners with CSU to Offer Darkroom Access

With the news that the Artcraft Building was being taken over by the city of Cleveland for its new police headquarters, the nonprofit Cleveland Print Room, which promotes the practice of photography, packed up and left the space there it had occupied for a decade. It wasn’t a sudden departure; CPR had been looking for its own dedicated space for more than a year — and is now saying it’s close to sealing the deal.

But it will be a little while before it will have its own space again. And in the meantime, it’s just forged a partnership with Cleveland State University to give CPR members and students access to darkroom facilities, formerly available at CPR, at CSU.  This will enable those who were working on, or want to learn, film photography or alternative processes, always a significant part of CPR’s offerings, to continue that work.

“While CPR is in the process of establishing its own facilities, we have been striving to provide our members with the community darkroom access to which they have become accustomed, and we hope this will help our members continue their ongoing darkroom practices in the meantime,” they say. They’ll be announcing details about access soon; this is yet another reason to join the Cleveland Print Room!
