Wed 11/9 @ 6:30-8:30 PM
Floral designer Bill Hixson has been a mainstay in Lakewood for more than half a century. There you can still visit his shop, packed with all kinds of home decorating ideas. It’s especially alluring at Christmas, since Hixson has become known for his holiday designs: he’s helped with the White House holiday displays for more than 30 years. The shop carries ornaments year-round, with still more during the holidays, with more than 3,000 different types, designed by Hixson and crafted by European glass artists.
For many years, he taught floral design, with his Hixson’s School of Floral Design, although he’s retired from that now (You can still access his ideas and suggestions through his DVD series). So it’s a rare opportunity Geauga Park District is offering, with his holiday open house at the West Woods Nature Center, featuring a demonstration presentation by Hixson. Light refreshments will be served. It’s free but registration is required.
