Join Local Chefs for a Virtual Squash “Tasting”

Sun 11/22 @ 11AM-noon

Most of the summer harvest has disappeared from farmers markets. But now is peak time for winter squash, those thick-skinned, long-keeping squash that can form the base of hearty, filling cold-weather dishes. If those hulking, often oddly shaped veggies leave you scratching your head, join Countryside Markets, along with four local chefs, 24 Karrot Kitchen and Front 9 Farm for a virtual squash tasting.

When you register, you’ll get four cooking demos led by Doug Katz (Zhug, Chimi), Ben Bebenroth of Spice Co., Flying Fig’s Karen Small and Kathleen Madden, along with a recipe and list of ingredients and where they can be purchased. Then, to conclude, on Sunday November 22, Madden, chef and owner of 24 Karrot Kitchen, and Jimmy and Cassondra Myers, farmers/owners of Front 9 Farm, will talk about squash varieties and answer questions.

The event is free to make it accessible to all in these tough times, although if you are able a $20 donation will be used to support the Countryside Market and the farmers and chefs sharing their knowledge.
