Painter Eileen Dorsey Shows New Work in a Different Style

Wed 6/19 @ 4-7PM

Fri 6/21 @ 5-9PM

Painter Eileen Dorsey has become known for a specific, easily identifiable style of landscape painting with a distinctive color palette. But she’s experimented with other styles including in her rapidly growing mural business. She’s become something of an area celebrity, opening her doors at 78th Street Studios each Third Friday, winning multiple Scene “Best Artist” awards, and putting her work on a continually increasing number of items such as tote bags, mugs and jigsaw puzzles. She even designed plates for a benefit for EDWINS, the Shaker Squares restaurants/food businesses that train people returning from prison for jobs in food service.

She broke from her traditional style recently with a new series of paintings she’s dubbed Abstractions and Inversions: Experimental Work by Eileen Dorsey, a harder-edged, more abstract style that she says contains hidden symbolism. She says it’s about “looking inward and allowing oneself to feel past traumas as they have endured so I can move on from them.”

She’ll be opening her studio doors for a preview of Wednesday June 19 from 4-7pm or you can drop in during the regular Third Friday hours of 5-9pm on Friday June 21.
