New Orleans’ Subdudes have been performing their hybrid roots music for going on 30 years now, a blending that reflects the polyglot culture of their native region. You’ll hear in their music strains of folk, rock, swamp pop, New Orleans-style blues and R&B, funk, gospel, Cajun, zydeco and country.
In that time, they’ve released eight studio album and maintained relatively stable personnel — you won’t find a long list with dozens of former members. They’ve taken a couple of breaks and haven’t released much in recent years. But they do have a new album now, titled 4 on the Floor, featuring unplugged versions of 10 of their own tunes, plus Hank Williams’ “I Saw the Light.”
With the new disc in tow, the group is hitting the road again. They’re coming to the Kent Stage. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
