Fri 2/12-Mon 2/15 @ 10AM-7PM
Maybe an aquarium doesn’t come to mind as the ideal place for a romantic date but you’ve got to think out of the box — or the fish tank!
For Valentine’s Day weekend, which runs from Friday through Monday, the Greater Cleveland Aquarium is inviting people to celebrate “That’s A-Moray” (groan!) with romance-themed activities including mood music in the galleries, Valentine’s Day photo ops and a romantic “I Spy” challenge. You can bring the kids too — they’ll enjoy the animal enrichment activities, and you can always make up a story about why the “weedy seadragons dance, cichlids shimmy, red-eared sliders flutter their claws and pufferfish draw patterns in the sea bottom to attract mates.”
They’ve got extended hours, but since they’re keeping crowds down so people can social distance you might want to make a reservation quickly.
If you don’t feel comfortable going out quite yet, there are some virtual activities you can sign up for. There’s a virtual shark exhibit encounter Friday February 12 @ 3:30pm, and an Artist at Heart “Kissing Fish” Kids’ Art Party Monday February 15 @ 9:45am.
You can also enter their “Splash of Romance” giveaway through February 14, with a winner chosen at random for a prize package that includes a couple’s Aquarium pass, a private virtual Aquarium tour, a starlit cruise on the Nautica Queen, and gift certificates for local restaurants, a vintage shop and a bookstore.
