Award-winning composer and former member of the Cleveland Institute of Art faculty Margaret Brouwer formed the Blue Streak Ensemble in 2011 to perform contemporary chamber music in the region, including the copious music she has written, recorded and won grants for.

Blue Streak features an evolving cast of the area’s top professional musicians, currently includes violinist Emma Shook, cellist Robert Nicholson, clarinetist Amitai Vardi, pianist Shuai Wang, percussionist Luke Rinderknecht, horn player Richard King and tenot Brian Skoog.

The group performs at Heights Arts Gallery where the program will include two of Brouwer’s pieces, “The Lover” from Voice in the Lake and “Lament” (in honor of the victims of 9/11, to whom the concert is dedicated), Lennox Berkeley’s Horn Trio and songs by Cleveland composer Bascom Little (1910-1965) to honor the 50th anniversary of the Bascom Little Fund. The concert is free but freewill donations will be gratefully accepted.
