The Cleveland Museum of Art’s Desktop Dialogues virtual lecture series finds confluence with the current election season in “This Is What Democracy Looks Like.”
The presenter is Cleveland VOTES co-founder and executive director of the Ohio Transformation Fund Erika Anthony, who will talk about images of democracy in American art: how they have depicted everything from voting to protest and what influence art has had in advocating for change and engaging people in the political process.
The image above, by Italian photographer Frank Horvat, depicts 1962 election results registering at the CBS Center. It was donated to the Cleveland Museum of Art by political commentator and former Clinton administration official George Stephanopoulos. (He also lived in Cleveland in his teens, attending Orange High School).
It’s free; to join go here.
