While Oberlin’s Riverdog Barn presents many touring roots music acts, it also gives local acts a chance to perform a special events in this lovely, rustic setting that’s partly outdoors.
This week visitors can hear two of the mainstays of Cleveland’s blues scene, Kristine Jackson & Austin “Walkin’ Cane” Charanghat, taking a break from the steady stream of clubs each one plays and making some music together. Their styles are very different — Jackson plays blues-infused rock with a singer/songwriter sensibility to her very personal tunes, while Charanghat draws on traditional Delta acoustic blues for his slide guitar-driven sound. Combined they can really produce some musical fireworks. Riverdog tells us that their 2016 was the best attended of that season and the second biggest show in their history so you might want to make a table/parking reservation quickly (Parking is limited so this is a good idea).
Admission is $15 at the gate (students $5, kids 12 and under are free) and as usual, it’s BYOB — you’re welcome to bring a picnic basket and whatever you like to drink.
