Sounds of St. James Concert Features Student Pianist and Violinist from Oberlin Conservatory

Sun 11/13 @ 4PM

St. James Catholic Church has been inviting visitors inside edifice to enjoy music along with the splendor of the building at its Sounds of St. James concert series.

Its next edition will feature violinist Samuel Hao and pianist Kai-Min Chang, both students at Oberlin Conservatory. Whose program includes J.S. Bach’s Partita in D Minor, Eugène-Auguste Ysaÿe’s Sonata No. 2, Edvard Grieg’s Violin Sonata No. 3, and Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst’s 1864 “The Last Rose of Summer,” the last described variously as “absurdly difficult” and “incredibly difficult variations for violin.” One online commenter observed “Don’t try to play this before you have mastered pretty much every piece of virtuoso violin music there is in the repertoire.” Samuel Hao, the challenge is yours!

Admission is free, with a good will offering for the performers. If Hao successfully navigates “The Last Rose of Summer” you’ll want to be exceptionally generous! The performance is followed by light refreshments and the chance to meet the performers.
