Rachel & the Beatnik Playboys Play Live Music for the Bainbridge Swing Dance

Sat 1/6 @ 8PM

If you’ve spent too much of the holidays on the couch and you’re feeling a bit sluggish, now might be a good time to get acquainted with the Bainbridge Swing Dances, which take place on the first Saturday of each month at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls.

First of all, it’s great exercise and you don’t have to know how to dance. The evening starts at 8pm with a dance lesson that brings beginners and anyone who’s rusty up to speed. And experienced dancers are always glad to help you out.

Second, it’s a chance to get out and socialize and meet new people. You can come with your partner or your whole family (the dances are family-friendly for all ages) but you don’t have to. In swing dancing, everyone changes partners constantly throughout the evening.

Finally, since dancing is set to live music, you get to hear some of the best regional bands who play such danceable genres of American/roots music as rock, blues, R&B, swing and more. This month, Rachel and the Beatnik Playboys, a quartet of veteran musicians from northeast Ohio, will be performing their lively country-based classics and originals with elements of jazz, rock, soul and more. Pianist/vocalist Rachel Brown sings like a soulful Patsy Cline.
