Spend a Summer Morning at Holden Arboretum

All you have to do is watch this video of a summer morning at Holden Arboretum in Kirtland to know this is a place you have to make a resolution to visit this summer. Everything’s in bloom, including spectacular rhododendrons and orange milkweed — ever seen orange milkweed? No? Then go! It attracts pollinators and is essential to the monarch butterfly life cycle. White, yellow, pink and purple blooms abound, a butterfly’s delight.

The Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower are open for a great view of the surrounding forests, part of Holden’s 3,600 acres. And they’re included in general admission. Holden is open Tuesday-Sunday @ 9am-5pm. But they’ll be open Monday July 5 @ 9am-5pm (closing early at 3pm on July 4).
