Clothing designer Valerie Mayan has really upped her game as far as coming up with creative ways to draw people into her Yellowcake Shop since she moved into 78th Street Studios a few years ago. She’s diversified her product lines, and become more nimble, regularly adding new things to her line of classics, with affordable tops and leggings alongside investment coats you’ll wear for many seasons.
She’s also been hosting more events and special promotions — something she did during the pandemic when traffic during 78th Street’s Third Fridays decreased. With holding events on off days and staggered times, they could be socially distanced. And she brought in other local merchants offering complimentary products.
She’s still doing it with events such as her upcoming Self-Care Saturday. There’ll be big discounts on in-stock clothing items, including some of her signature trench coats, and even bigger ones on discontinued items. You can bring your “pre-loved” Yellowcake items for credit toward your next visit as well. And there’ll be mini goodie bags with treats from BAKED AF and gift certificates from local self-care businesses.
