Fri 12/31 @ midnight
A New Year’s Eve tradition you and your whole family can enjoy safely — it’s outdoors — is the 9th annual Chagrin Falls New Year’s Eve Popcorn Ball Drop, hosted by Dewey Forward’s Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop in downtown Chagrin Falls.
Of course, they have to keep topping themselves, and they’re saying this year’s popcorn ball will be the largest one they’ve constructed yet, weighing more than 250 pounds with a six-foot diameter. They’ve been working on the ball, dubbed “Jupiter,” for more than three months.
“’Jupiter’ is big enough to contain the equivalent volume of 13, 488 three inch popcorn balls — that’s a lot of popcorn!!!” they enthuse.
The evening also features music, dancing, confetti cannons and 200 regular-sized popcorn balls shot from bazooka popcorn cannons. Stop in Chagrin Falls Township Hall from 10”3-11:30 to fortify yourself with hot chocolate and cookies before the big event.
If you want to check out “Jupiter” in advance, it will be on display at the Chagrin Falls Popocrn Shop through December 30 when it will be hoisted up the Chagrin Falls Village Flag Pole to await its release at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
