Bluegrass/Blues Trio the Howlin’ Brothers Makes a Return Visit to Oberlin’s Riverdog Barn

Fri 9/7 @ 7:30pm

Nashville-based trio the Howlin’ Brothers are only brothers in the spirit of the music: they met and started making music at Ithaca College in the early ’00s. That music draws on bluegrass and traditional blues, featuring fiddle, slide banjo and harmonica to create a high-energy show featuring both original and old folk tunes. It may be acoustic, but it’s dancing music.

They’re back for their third appearance at the Riverdog Barn in Oberlin and the venue describes them as “crazy good” in its press release. They’re a Riverdog kinda band.

Admission is $15 at the gate; students with ID are $5. Lorenzo’s wood-fired pizza will again be onsite with $9 pies, but as usual you can bring your own picnic basket or cooler. Gate opens at 6pm.
