Convergence-Continuum Presents Play About a Family Dealing with Alzheimer’s

Thu 6/20-Sat 6/22 @ 8PM

Periodically, Tremont’s little Convergence-Continuum theater does something it calls a “tweener” — a one-weekend-only productions between the runs of its regular productions.

This weekend, it’s presenting such a play, called Living on the Moon, written by northeast Ohio-based Molly McFadden, who worked extensively un New York as a playwright and performer before moving here. It’s about the illusions we create and the difficulty in sustaining them in the face of reality.

“Tonight, it is time for Molly to ‘let go’ and move on as well as come to terms with herself and her daughter,” says the Synopsis. “Her daughter, Kate, discovers that as her mom is going through her music and arrangements from her days in cabaret in New York, and she is getting ready to do a show. While Molly is getting ready, memories keep interrupting her, at which time she finally takes Memory out of the trunk and places her on her arm in order to help Molly come to terms and have realizations about her life.”

Memory is a puppet, the “ring master” who helps both women come to terms with Alzheimer’s. The play was inspired by her own mother’s Alzheimer’s and originally performed in 2023 at Cleveland’s BorderLight theater festival.

The production takes place at Convergence-Continuums home, the Liminis. Get tickets here.
