Anne E. DeChant took the Cleveland music scene by storm in the early-mid 90s, along with her two fellow frontwomen in the popular folk rock group Odd Girl Out. They packed every local club for years, and one local writer even extravagantly claimed they would be more influential than the Beatles.
Ok, maybe not. After the band’s demise in 1997, DeChant launched her solo career in 1998, crafting a series of increasingly skillful pop/rock albums filled with earnest but catchy songs that could be described as Americana pop. And even though she moved to Nashville in 2008, Clevelanders still hold her close to their hearts.
Several times a year, her old fans welcome her back when she arrives for an extended stay and a series of gigs. She’s performing a pre-holiday show at Peninsula’s intimate, historic G.A.R. Hall. Tickets are $16.
