CPT Presents New Play About Sexual Awakenings

Thu 4/1-Fri 4/2 @ 7PM

Cleveland Public Theatre is known for its extensive development process, often presenting the same work at different phases of development over a period of several years. And it’s offered series dedicated to works in progress such as its Test Flight series, which kicked off last week.

This week it will present two performances of Bedroom Culture, A Virtual Adaptation, written and directed by Hannah Rae Leach, with music by the Prom Queens (Leach, Ayana Cheson, Josh Perelman-Hall). It was already part of CPT’s Entry Point festival in 2019 and now it’s moving on to the next stage of development.

The synopsis of the work tell us “The summer before freshman year of college, Lavender is determined to have her First Experience with a boy. Her best friend Mia finds her feelings for Lavender run deeper than friendship. Caught in a queer love triangle, Bedroom Culture is a sun-drenched coming-of-age story about the power of pop culture, fantasy and first love.” The cast includes Alexa Fatheringham, Nicole Coury, Corey East, Samantha Cocco and Katherine Nash.

The play is 90 minutes with an intermission. Tickets are a suggested donation of $1-$99. The “house” is limited to 50 seats, so make your reservation here to get the Zoom link shortly before curtain time.
