Yards Project Show Looks at Art in Series

Thu 11/3 @ 5:30-8PM

The Series and the Multiple, the next show at the Yards Project at Worthington Yards Apartments in the Warehouse District, shows how artists work and re-work a particular idea, finding new meanings and directions in a similar image.

“The opportunity to create multiples and develop work through a series is best celebrated with the disciplines of ceramics, bronze, glass, photo and print,” says the show’s statement. “The matrix, the mold, the cast and the contact sheet all celebrate the ways in which artists have played around with the variant, the duplicate, the edition, and serial imaging.”

As usual, the cast of fifteen artists includes some very familiar to area art lovers as well as some less familiar names. Some are educators and several have been involved with area collective maker spaces (Val Grossman, for instance, founded Brick in the Waterloo Arts district.) They include Shelly Ahern, April Bleakney, Margaret Collins, Scott Goss, Val Grossman, Elyse Herrera, Jacques P. Jackson, Earl James, Jennifer Leach, Andrea LeBlond, Seth Nagelberg, Kelly Pontoni, Kevin Snipes, Trudy Wiesenberger and Linda Zmina.

The show opens with a reception Thursday November 3 @ 5:30-8pm and remains on view through January 7.
