Experience the Diversity of Tomatoes at Countryside Farmers Market’s Tomato Tasting

Sat 8/20 @ 9AM-noon

For those who go to farmers markets, now is the best time of year when fresh, local produce is at its peak. It’s the pinnacle for tomatoes too, when vines are producing their fruit almost faster than it can be picked. That’s why the Countryside Farmers Market at Howe Meadow hosts its annual tomato tasting now.

More and more people are becoming aware that there’s more to tomatoes than the big, round, red beefsteaks we’ve always bought at the supermarket. They come in a different colors, including pink, white, orange, yellow, purple, brown and even striped. And they come in an array of flavors and textures as well. This is your opportunity to identify the ones you like best, and maybe plan to grow them in your own garden next year.

It’s a big day for the market as peak season comes to a close. Crafty Mart will be bringing some vendors and Lorilei Bailey will be using some of those tomatoes for her Bloody Mary Craft Cocktails class. The class is $20; make your reservation here.
